I would have to say that M-1's are some of the most controversial figures in kaiju collectibles, mainly for the fact of how they stray from popular scultping standards. They are some of the rarest and hardest to collect. That being said, they still remain some of my favorites, even though I only have two left. I had to sell a wealth of priceless glow figures, first productions, rareties, and some good looking M-1's to help pay the rent years ago. So let that be a lesson to the masses, be smart in your collecting, no matter what genre you may pursue.
The last two M-1's of my collection were originally solid colors. M-1 released a flesh colored Godzilla and yellow colored Matango for the customizing crowd. Back in the day I got these figures, Marius MOGUERA lived right down the street from me and Space Hojo. I asked him to customize these figures however he saw fit. You look at them now and you would think that's how they came out of the factory! He used airbrushes to apply the color.
My favorite is the Gornzilla, based after the color schemes of the Gorn from the original Star Trek series. No homemade diamond cannon is going to piece his radioactive hide. The Matango has a beautiful irredescant coloring that makes you think it's a rare mushroom hidden in some exotic rainforest. Eat this one and you're bound to start tripping forever. I'm pairing both of these figures in this update not only because they are the last of my M-1's, but also because one of my good friends painted them for me.
