The result was the Kiryuu (or Kiryuu-Gina, to give it her full name) unit, arguably the most powerful (size/output wise) combat machine ever built by the JSDF. However, early testing in controlled theatres against mass-produced, low AI mech soldiers revealed a strange fault in the unit as, during a test to see just how far the unit could push herself, she went berserk. Smashing through the walls of the testing facility and killing several observers before a close-range EMP blast disabled the machine, Kiryuu was eventually brought back to the JSDF main facilities for further investigation into this phenomenon.

Kiryuu is, like her two sister units, a half-time attendee, full-time security officer at Daikaiju High (this transfer happened after the JSDF production facilities were obliterated in a massive engagement with an unknown group of individuals: for information, see files -*Security override. It is interesting to note that Kiryuu’s human-based AI (based on the personality of JSDF pilot Akane Yashiro), while technically younger than those of Sumegi and Katsura, has adopted the middle-sister position out of the three, as Sumegi’s AI acts noticeably younger and more childish than her designers intended. Lately, Kiryuu has formed a relationship with the superhero Mazinger Zoe, but have held this secret for fear of people’s reactions.
